The "old" version of OpenOffice 2.4 is not compatible with MS Office 2007 files which I use for all work. I tried to install the latest OpenOffice version 3.1 but am not succeeding.<br>
Do you somewhere have a OpenOffice version 3.1 file that is self-installing ? You know, an *.exe file that initiates the full installation without me having to copy and paste stuff from one place to another ?<br>I would very much appreciate your help with this.<br>

We tried to correctly install Ubuntu Netbook Remix in that machine, and<br>
found problems with the nice looking but slow main menu. It happens that<br>
the menu requires hardware acceleration, but the VIA video chip sucks<br>
for Linux, since there are no drivers for up-to-date Linux<br>
distributions, and the available ones are proprietary.<br>

I recommended to stay put with SUSE 10.1 that comes with the machine,<br>
and then upgrading to Ubuntu when a suitable open source driver with all<br>
the functions becomes available for that video chip.<br>
