Abstract:
Debian is a reliable and consistent operating system,
created by people who wanted nothing but a system that
works, and which facilitates a lot of the tasks of
system administration. Nowadays, many professionals
and private persons favour Debian over other distributions
because of its transparency and high quality. But Debian
is more than that; Debian is also a strong, goal-oriented
community that abides to uncompromising quality control
and provides unquantifiable experience from the almost
1000 developers. As an active developer, I would like to
take the opportunity to shine some light onto the Debian
system as well as the community, and to give you an
objective set of criteria for when Debian is the best choice.
Biography:
Martin was born in Munich, Germany only 24 years ago.
He studied computer science and psychology in the USA
and now strives for a doctorate degree at the Artificial
Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich.
To earn his money, he teaches network security for the
Munich-based AERAsec GmbH. Martin has been with Debian
since 1996.
Best regards
Ursula Burri
