The point is that it should *not* be necessary to add hardware to
support a remote console. Almost every PC motherboard already has all
of the necessary hardware onboard. It is just the stupid BIOS that is
missing the functionality. If I could replace the BIOS with Linux, my
problem would be solved.
The way I figure it is that if a motherboard manufacturer is intelligent
enough to include remote console functionality in their BIOS (or if the
LinuxBIOS project already works on a board) the board is probably
well-supported by Linux.

I will look them up, but what I am really looking for is a server
motherboard that:
1. has a remote console
2. is well-supported by vanilla Linux
3. is available
